Prayers: Be Like a Woman in Travail

“…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”  James 5:16 (NLT)

A woman’s nature and true essence should have these traits: caring, loving, tenderness, empathy, and compassion, to name a few; however, women of God have a special place and gifting.

Oftentimes, when life gets tough, we find ourselves in an attitude of prayer, and we know the prayers of righteous persons produce excellent results.

In Helen Baylor’s testimony, her journey of faith and redemption began through the faith of her ‘praying grandmother.’ She was a devout child in church before succumbing to a life of drugs, promiscuity, and despair. Despite spiraling into addiction and dangerous circumstances, her praying grandmother and Christian television planted seeds of hope. Through struggles and near-death experiences, she finally surrendered to Jesus, asking for deliverance. Instantly, she was freed from addiction and embraced a new life of faith.

Her story celebrates the power of prayer, God’s transformative grace, and the redemption that brought her salvation and a saved husband. She praises Jesus for setting her free. She is now a brave woman who trusts God, just like her grandmother did.

Prayers can turn life’s challenges around. Bring your requests before Him with gratitude, trusting in what He will do. As His children, when we pray, we receive God’s peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace allows us to face life with optimism and faith, knowing that He will undoubtedly come through for us.

A woman may say, but I am not a mother. Being a mother is not limited to giving birth to a child.   As a woman, God has placed in you the capacity to carry someone else’s burden; therefore, do not retire yourself, for the Lord requires you, grandmothers, mothers, aunts, nieces, and women in general.

Isaiah 54:1 (NLT) says, “Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord.”

God promised children, joy, and prosperity. He is merciful and does not forget those who suffer. A woman without children can still rejoice because the desolate woman now has more children. Hallelujah!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace and mercy. As we confess our sins, please forgive us where we have failed You. Father, have Your way in our lives. Thank You for covering my family, friends, and loved ones under the blood of Jesus. Amen!
